TOP RECEPTION TIPS from Don McGregor, Banqueting Manager for five star hotel Cameron House
Cameron House is situated on the banks of Loch Lomond and some of our most memorable weddings have involved the bride and groom arriving in real style! We've had helicopters, sea planes and even hot air balloons - sometimes to the amazement of the assembled guests! The element of surprise at a wedding makes the day a talking point - and small surprises can be just as much fun!
Music plays an importany part of a wedding and creates the mood at the reception. Some couples opt to have a piper playing when they arrive and then choose a string quartet to keep their guests entertained through the photographs.
One wedding party even arranged a cruise around Loch Lomond for their guests as the photographs were being taken. It certainly got their reception off to a memorable start - and I would put money on it that the guests are still talking about that particular wedding reception now...
Your wedding menu is, of course, a matter of taste. But, if you're unsure, ask the banqueting manager for advice and come along to the hotel to sample your chosen dishes well in advance of the wedding.
Fireworks, in my view, are the ideal finale to any good reception. They let guests know that celebrations have come to a definite end and provide the perfect opportunity for the bride and groom to leave the party on a high!
