TOP TIPS... at the Reception
Photographs can be a bit of a drag for reception guests so it may be a good idea to keep them happy with a drink and some music while you and your groom are being snapped. Opt for a string quartet, Spanish guitarist, jazz trio or Caribbean steel band - the choice is yours.
Background music during the meal also goes down well and again creates a relaxed ambience.
Choosing the type of music you want for your evening reception can be difficult as you will probably have to cater for a range of age groups. Whichever type of band you decide on, here are our famous five tips:
- Bear in mind the size of your venue. The sound levels should let people not dancing still hear themselves talk.
- Try to see your chosen band or disco in action before you book them so you know what to expect.
- Sort your band out as far in advance of your wedding as possible - good ones can be booked solid for months. Find out whether a deposit is required.
- Confirm in advance the line-up, number of sets they will perform and exactly what their fee will cover.
- Confirm a fortnight before the wedding that arrangements are in place.
