Give yourself enough time. Ideally you should start looking for your rings at least two months before the wedding.
Big hands - choose a heavier, wider ring. Small hands- fragile, intricate rings will look good. Long elegant fingers - unusual, eye-catching designs will draw attention to your hands. Short fingers - a narrower ring will add length.
Always try on any ring you're thinking of buying. Some rings can look very different when actually on your finger.
Don't choose a ring made of too-thin metal. Your wedding ring will be worn every day and should be able to withstand the knocks of life!
Make sure your ring feels good to wear. Jeweller Graeme Mitchell of TB Mitchell in Perth advises choosing 18-carat gold: "It's almost as durable as 9-carat, but feels so much more comfortable."
A ring with a rounded outside edge will be easier to wear.
Don't choose your wedding rings just because they happen to fit. A jeweller will be happy to make a ring bigger or smaller - or make one specially for you.
If you do happen to get a ring stuck on your finger, neat washing-up liquid will help slide it off!
Check a couple of weeks before the big day that your ring still fits - dieting slims down fingers as well as waistlines. It's also worth bearing in mind that if you're getting married in the summer or abroad, your fingers may swell up in the heat.
