With This Ring

It symbolises your love, seals your vows and will be worn on your finger for the rest of your married life. So how do you go about choosing the perfect wedding ring? WedsiteScotland.com consults the experts...
Celtic Influence
Celtic ring designs are hundreds of years old and their timeless quality strikes a chord with many couples. "Celtic rings are based on the idea of eternity," says Cheryl Shepherd of Skye Jewellery. "The designs have no beginning and no end."
A Regal Touch
Follow in the footsteps of the Royal family and choose Welsh Clogau Gold for your wedding rings. "Clogau Gold has been mined in the heart of the Snowdonian mountains since 1854," explains David Gauld, who stocks Clogau Gold in his Dumfries shop, Gems. "Rings hand-crafted in Clogau Gold have a little bit of Welsh magic hidden within them."
Colour Co-ordinated
Gold doesn't have to be golden - it can also be white or red. "Many of the rings I design have two colours of gold running through them," says Stirling jeweller Perseghian.
18-carat yellow and white gold are also popular choices, with platinum proving a modern choice for couples wanting something that little bit different.
Design it Yourself
If you have an idea for a unique wedding ring design, why not do something about it? Many independent jewellers thrive on the challenge of commissions and will relish the prospect of creating personal rings for your wedding. Just make sure you give them plenty of notice.
