SPRING BOUQUET IDEAS

East European peasant style meets 1950's housewife chic - that's the coolest look for flowers this Spring.

Colours are those of an orchard behind the house and fruit and vegetables in the garden - pea green, peach, lilac, plum and raspberry, with shots of turquoise and fresh cream thrown in for good measure.

Bouquet shapes are simple, unrefined and charming - small-scale posies with a nostalgic, folksy charm.

A baton of deep blue iris with a low collar of pink tulips and fragrant waxflower makes a stunningly simple bouquet. Finish with decorative leaves and a ribbon.

Striped tulips in two shades of red enclose a mass of deeper raspberry-red shaggy gerbera. Look for Lucky Strike, Merry Widow, Leen van de Mark, Stargazer or Debutante tulips. For maximum effect, finish off stems with deeply bound contrasting ricrac ribbon.

Richly coloured ranunculus in juicy shades of pink and wine are surrounded by fluffy asparagus fern - the perfect contrast to the chunky flowerheads. A star of woven straw forms an ornamental frame to complete this refreshingly different bouquet.

A loose bouquet of white ranunculus, deep plum tulips, peach gerberas and pink waxflower looks wonderful - and thanks to the lacy lemon-scented waxflower - smells wonderful, too.

If any of the bouquet suggestions above have inspired you, why not ask your florist to log on to WedsiteScotland.com to give her/him an idea of what you like.
